New Zealand's cities offer a wide range of economic and social opportunities. City dwellers can work in New Zealand's business, communication, manufacturing, and shipping industries. Urban New Zealanders enjoy easy access to the fine arts, education, entertainment, and night life. New Zealand's cities are fairly uncrowded. Some city dwellers live in high-rise apartment buildings, but most own their own homes.


Covid-19

Most respondents (86.3% unweighted) spent the lockdown living with others, with 81.0% being happy with their lockdown living circumstances. The majority (77.6%) rated their health as good. Almost a quarter (23.0%) had pre-existing conditions or circumstances that made them vulnerable to coronavirus (e.g., being pregnant, immunocompromised). About one-fifth of participants (19.4% unweighted) were essential workers, with 113 employed in healthcare, 25 in law enforcement, 23 in other emergency services, and 232 as providers of essential goods or services.
